Language Barriers

If you get lost here, please do not expect everyone in Tokyo to speak English. Many young Japanese are willing to try, but failing with words most people will help using gestures or take you directly to your destination. It's always best to carry a card with your hotel's address printed in Japanese.

more precisely there is VERY FEW japanese who can COMMUNICATE in english despite that there are fairly QUITE A FEW people who can READ english.

most probbly all the major hotels have the cards for their guest showing the map and addresses both in english and in japanese so that you will be show them to taxi drivers etc.

More Women than men have been taught spoken English. In a pinch, always try a woman first.
