Went to Kyoto in March 07, and met up with Peter Macintosh, a professional photographer who gives lectures on the area. Had a fascinating wander around Gion with a lot of enlightening chat about the whole culture. He has lived there for years and is married to an ex Geisha, so knows the Gion district and residents well, and has many contacts so can arrange genuine Geisha evenings, Kaiseki meals etc if you want.
