New York City Sightseeing Gray Line Double-Decker Buses
Gray Line Double Decker buses are the way to see NYC. For $49 per adult, $39 per child, we got Hop-On and -Off sightseeing throughout NYC for 48-hours. This included Uptown/Harlem, Downtown, Brooklyn, Night Tour (best tour of all) and 1-hr. cruise. The tour guides were great/informative. Expect to tip them as you get off (which you'll do often if you get on and off at various stops like we did, so we kept it to a buck or two max. per bus). Excellent way to get photos as you drive by. You'll see every major sight NYC has to offer. We waited no more that 5-10 minutes at any given stop to get the next bus. Most tours start/end at Times Square. For an extra $10, you can upgrade to a 72-hour tour. Also, you don't need to buy online - we didn't because once you pay, limited in getting a refund. Once in NYC, go to Times Square and they'll have vendors at every corner trying to sign you up. These are the RED not BLUE buses.
Excellent sightseeing advice; it is the advice I give to my visitors. You will be taken directly to most of the sights you will want to see, and you can set your own schedule at the stops you choose. I don't however really know the relative merits of the RED vs. the BLUE or other similar tour buses.
