A great place to ski and snowboard that isn't Whistler!

Mt. Baker, just across the border in Washington State, is closer to Vancouver than Whistler is, and provides some of the greatest skiing and snowboarding that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

The mountain is super friendly, less trendy and much cheaper than Whistler/Blackcomb. It is located in a US National Park so does not have hotel facilities, but is an easy day trip from Vancouver. Check out the website http://www.mtbaker.us/

The winter road is safe and well-maintained, but you should have winter tires or 4-wheel drive. All normal facilties such as equipment rentals, high quality lessons, etc. are available. Food on the mountain is simple, but good, and not expensive!

In the summer, the mountain offers some spectacular hiking for all levels of ability, or just amazing scenery that is worth the drive.
